Who We Are The History and Mission of the ScanSource Charitable Foundation From the earliest days of our company, ScanSource employees have consistently expressed a desire to reach out to the local community and donate time and money to improve the lives of those in need. This is why the ScanSource Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private foundation, was created. The Foundation has a Board of Directors consisting of company employees who are committed to making a difference. Currently, we have 20 board members who help determine our objectives. One of the Foundation’s first focused efforts was in supporting a local school that is located in an at-risk neighborhood. In 1995, the Foundation assisted East Greer in obtaining playground equipment for $10,000. In addition to working with the school, the Foundation helped needy families and individuals pay overdue bills, buy Christmas gifts and more. By 1998, the Foundation began researching other needs in the community. While we considered developing an after-school care facility here at ScanSource, we instead helped create a new after-school program at the Greer Child Development and Family Learning Center (formerly East Greer Elementary). Working with the child development center allowed us to take advantage of a pre-existing facility and the experience of the staff already in place there. We continue to support the center (since renamed Dunbar Child Development and Family Learning Center), as well as various agencies that include A Child’s Haven, Beaver Ridge Elementary School, Georgia Avenue Elementary School, Greenville Mental Health, Women of Excellence, Carolina Ballet Theatre, Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Miracle Hill, The Alliance for Quality Education, various local needs and a number of indigent families at Christmas time. Further, our employees donate time and resources to Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Race for the Cure, Hands on Greenville, Lakeview Middle School and Dunbar. Our chief focus is on education and children. The Foundation funds activities in locations where ScanSource has an office, including Tennessee, Washington State, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas and S. Carolina. We are always on the lookout for new funding opportunities. Most importantly, giving to the ScanSource Charitable Foundation guarantees that 100% of your money goes directly to the needs of local children and families. None of the funds donated to the Foundation are used for salaries, overhead or operating expenses. Our Federal ID# is 57 1002959.
